I love David Gray!

I can’t quite remember how I found Jessica Sonner, but I’m glad I did. She’s all too unknown, but shouldn’t be. Give her a try:

Tristan Prettyman is a Cali girl – kinda pop, kinda folky, kinda happy, kinda quirky, definitely enjoyable. Here’s a new single, Madly Madly Madly:

I went to Jimmy’s Brother, a Karaoke Southern style bar last night. We drank beer, hung out with our new friends, and enjoyed some ridiculous karaoke. Which was great, and then it was our turn (there were 4 of us) to sing. We wanted to do Walking in Memphis. I’ve done it karaoke before. In [...]

She’s got an angelic voice, like a Sarah McLaughlin, Patty Griffin, Rachael Davis, Nanci Griffith. She was born with an easy gift. Her songs are calm like the ocean and full of depth and emotion that literally grip you to tears. Give her a listen: One Moment More.

I couldn’t not post this. It’s my astrology reading for today. Go music!
You’ve got your own soundtrack today, even if you forget your iPod. Your good energy keeps a beat and melody humming in your brain throughout the day, making every interaction a little sweeter.

She has, within the last few years, gone from mother of (5?) in her forties, releasing CD’s like The Kitchen Tapes, writing songs about racism [...]

Shawn Mullins

10Apr08

I saw Shawn Mullins last night at Joe’s Pub.
My good friend Paul once said something to me when he was living in Brooklyn last summer; that he wouldn’t NOT go to a concert(s) just because he couldn’t find someone that was interested to go with him. Considering his eclectic taste, and mine for that matter, [...]

I heard these boys (and girl) last night with Griffin House. They were an impressive surprise. Here’s their song, Darkest Secret.

Griffin House

08Apr08

I saw Griffin House at the Living Room in NYC last night. The Sons of William opened for him, then backed him up. Both GH and SOW put on greats sets. GH is just as humble and sweet on stage as I would have guessed. He seems absolutely normal and even shy. Anyway, he played [...]

If I had the blogging-attention-span, I’d post VACO’s (Virginia Coalition) entire new album up on here…because it is just that good. This band has clogged my ears with goodness, from songs like Mason Dixon to Hurricane, to many others. Anyway, their newest CD, called Home This Year, is just off the hook. One [...]

This is actually my aunt’s god son, Eric Hutchinson. I’m not sure what that makes me, relation-wise, but I do think he’s quite a talent, and it’s even cooler to know he’s only about a degree away. This is a purdddy one:)
