Since I mention her in the Shawn Mullins post and below that in another, here is a Lori McKenna example with one of her newer songs, How Romantic is That? She has, within the last few years, gone from mother of (5?) in her forties, releasing CD’s like The Kitchen Tapes, writing songs about racism and children, to having her song Fireflies be the title track of Faith Hill’s new album…called Fireflies. Love that song. Love playing it myself. Can’t blame Faith Hill one bit. And now, as I understand, Lori is on tour with her and Tim McGraw. She’s even been on Oprah. Didn’t I just see her in a little church in some random town in Massachusetts? Didn’t her tickets just cost $15 or less? Not so much anymore. She just became a big deal…which is great. I’ll always root for her to be heard.
