James Ruff

One evening, I was on my way out of my building and I found myself passing by a circle of people in the lobby hanging out for an annual happy hour meet-and-greet. When I came home later on, I saw a semi-circle of folks gathered around one of my neighbors, James Ruff, playing his HD-28 Martin (my favorite guitar) and singing one of his tunes. Apparently there’s an incredible musician with tons of talent living in my building, I thought to myself.

Long story short, James and I (and his gf Emily Sinnot, a beautifully talented Cello player and vocalist herself) have become quick friends. I’ve been working on James’ newsletter and helping do some research for him for an upcoming Fall Northwest Regional tour.

He just had his CD release show about 2 weeks ago at Rockwood Music Hall. One of his songs, Take My Hand, which can be found on YouTube is seen here:
